Hemanya Gakhar
Name: Hemanya Gakhar
Qualification: New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5)
Hemanya Gakhar has always been fascinated by the impact teachers have on their students.
“I have had great experiences with my teachers over the years. They have all been kind, caring, empathetic, helpful and extremely passionate about their profession. My English teacher in particular taught me so much. If I could become even half the teacher that she is, I’d be content in life.
“I want to be a positive influence for children and help them achieve their true potential. Becoming an ECE educator will allow me to work with our youngest at the start of their learning journeys. I love the idea that I’ll get to teach them something they’ll carry for life.”
Partway through the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) with New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC), Hemanya is enjoying the comfort and flexibility of studying in India.
“Learning in my own country is cost effective, and I am able to spend more time with my family and friends. It has removed anxieties of having to move across the world, yet I can still study with a leading tertiary provider that has been supporting students for nearly 40 years.”
Hemanya says that the ease and accessibility of NZTC’s online mode of learning has been a welcome relief throughout the challenges of Covid-19.
“The college has made life a lot easier in these tough times. I have no doubts when it comes to my assessments as our course guides are so detailed, and the NZTC Online portal is an interactive wonderland filled with study materials, comprehensive readings, and useful communication channels like online messaging and a discussion forum.
“My lecturers are approachable and their support is motivating. They are sensitive, compassionate and truly care about their students. This makes my whole journey so much more remarkable.”
Once she has achieved her qualification and gained some valuable practical experience, Hemanya has her sights set on becoming a centre manager in the future.
“My ultimate dream is to train and supervise staff responsible for the care of children, set objectives and standards for centres, and nurture strong relationships with the children’s parents.”
